A pair of creepy Klaus Kinski classics will be available in a special collector's edition Blu-ray on October 22 from Film Masters. The films included are Creature With the Blue Hand (1967) and Web of the Spider (1971).

Creature With the Blue Hand (1967) - Originally released in Germany as Die Blaue Hand, the film was bought by Roger Corman’s New World Pictures and released in the U.S. in 1967 as the alternate version, Creature With the Blue Hand. This release is presented for the first time on Blu-ray in North America. A mystery-thriller about a series of grisly murders. It's one of several German films based on the novels of Edgar Wallace, many adaptations of which starred Kinski. Directed by Alfred Vohrer, the film also stars Harald Leipnitz and Carl Lange.

The film follows an inmate (Kinski) who is being held at a questionable sanitarium. When the inmate escapes and a series of murders occur, signs point to him as the killer ... but is he? Based on the novel, The Blue Hand, by Edgar Wallace, Creature With the Blue Hand is a suspenseful ride with many gothic elements and complex plot twists. Labeled as a “Krimi” film, this is a classic example of the genre, combining elements of mystery, crime and horror. 

The film was later acquired by Independent International Pictures and released to home video in the U.S. as The Bloody Dead in 1987 with six minutes of new footage, shot specifically for the release. The extra footage is included in this special edition as a bonus feature, which also includes a HD version of the full film, The Bloody Dead.

Web of the Spider (1971) - A classic haunted house tale from Italian maestro, Antonio Margheriti, with Kinski as none other than Edgar Allan Poe! It's a diabolical double dose from one of cinema's most controversial and unique figures!

In the film, American writer Alan Foster is challenged to spend the night in a haunted castle by Edgar Allan Poe and his friend, Lord Blackwood. Foster, intrigued and eager for new inspiration for his writing, accepts the challenge. Once inside the supposedly deserted castle, Foster encounters many intriguing characters including the beautiful Elisabeth Blackwood. Foster and Elizabeth fall in love, but things are complicated when Elizabeth reveals that she may not be entirely alive. In a series of increasingly supernatural events, Foster learns about the tragic and sinister history of the castle and its former inhabitants. As the night progresses, the line between reality and the supernatural blurs. 

Web of the Spider also stars Anthony Franciosa and Michèle Mercier and is a remake of director Margheriti's earlier film, Castle of Blood (1964). This version of Web of the Spider is the 92-minute U.S. version of the original Italian version of Nella Stretta Morsa del Ragno.controversial and unique figures!

Searchlight Pictures is set to release Yorgos Lanthimos' latest comedy/fantasy Kinds of Kindness starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alywn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer on Blu-ray on October 8. Digital will be available on August 27. 

The "boundary-pushing twisted film" will include an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette and a pair of deleted scenes. Only the digital 4K will have Dolby Atmos and there doesn't seem to be a 4K UHD physical release at this time.

Kinds of Kindness is a triptych fable following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life, a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person, and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.

Not officially official yet, we haven't had the press releases come in, but Amazon and every other online retailer has it up for preorder! Paramount will be releasing Zodiac (2007) and Addams Family Values (1993) on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on October 29th.

We've heard these were in the works for some time so it's nice to see some real confirmation and a release date! At least for now, that's the release date. At any time, even today, Paramount could drop a pair of press releases on us and we'll have to scoot back here and update everything. But until then consider these on the mark - also worth noting is the "Paramount Scares" logo on the top of the spines... and also interesting that they were not included in the Paramount Scares Vol. 2 box set... could there be some mystery discs in that set after all?

Well Go USA is preparing the horror film The Beast Within (2024) for a Blu-ray release on October 22. Digital will be available on August 13th.

The film reunites Game of Thrones' Kit Harington (Jon Snow) with James Cosmo (Jeor Mormont) and also co-stars Ashleigh Cummings and Caoilinn Springall and is directed by Alexander J. Farrell (Refugee). It was shot around the historic Harewood Woods and Castle in West Yorkshire, UK.

After a series of strange events leads her to question her family’s isolated life on a fortified compound deep in the English wilds, 10-year-old Willow (Caoilinn Springall) follows her parents on one of their secret late-night treks to the heart of the ancient forest. But upon witnessing her father undergo a terrible transformation, she too becomes ensnared by the dark ancestral secret they’ve tried so desperately to conceal.

Conflict is a love triangle with murder at its heart, an atmospheric film noir of rainy nights, looming shadows, fatal romance and a trench-coated killer that walks out of the mist – all directed by Curtis Bernhardt, a filmmaker skilled in the Expressionistic style of his native Germany. The story embraces the perfect noir topic: the almost-perfect crime. Humphrey Bogart portrays Richard Mason, married to nagging Katherine… but in love with her sunny sister. Shortly after a fifth-year wedding celebration at the home of a friend, Richard decides to remove the obstacle to his happiness. He kills Katherine, carefully leaving no evidence of his guilt. Or at least he thinks he killed her- until mysterious events cause Richard to fear Katherine is very much alive!

Bathing Beauty (1944) - Warner Archive Collection 

Hoping to win back his estranged swimming coach wife (Esther Williams), a love-struck songwriter (Red Skelton) enrolls in a women's college, and graduates summa cum laude in comedy! Red's in rare form and Esther's in formfitting swimsuits in this delightfully musical farce. Bathing Beauty begins with a splash: Xavier Cugat plays, Red clowns and Esther plunges into a pool. And from there things go, well, swimmingly. The college is lauded with pretty M-G-M starlets. Cugie shakes up more hot South American rhythms. Harry James swings into help North American sounds, and a fine cast including Basil Rathbone, Donald Meek, Janis Paige, and Margaret Dumont give expert support. The finale is a wowser of a water ballet, featuring Hollywood's favorite bathing beauty swimming gracefully along alternating jets of water and flame. But Esther isn't the only artistic lovely.

A Prairie Home Companion (2006) - Warner Archive Collection

From legendary director Robert Altman comes his final film, the deeply moving and comedic A Prairie Home Companion. Based on Garrison Keillor's wildly popular radio program of the same name, Altman invites audiences to the fictional "closing night" of the fabled show. As the rain pours down on a blustery Minnesota evening, the cast tapes their final performance, while waiting for the Texas businessman who has bought the theater to arrive and shut them down. Backstage the colorful ensemble says their goodbyes and confront old conflicts, while onstage a sold-out audience enjoys the wit and musical whimsy for which the show is famous. But when a mysterious woman appears offstage introducing herself as the angel Asphodel, it becomes apparent that this will be no ordinary closing night.

Sony is getting ready to celebrate Eli Roth's horror film Thanksgiving in style with a limited edition 4K UHD SteelBook on October 15.

Besides the creepy SteelBook packaging, this release will include several supplements with ALL-NEW Behead-the-Scenes Featurettes – an intimate, must-see look at the making of this new horror classic, as shot on-set by the cast, plus a letter to the fans from Eli Roth.

The closer we get to October, the more studios and independent labels unleash the terrors of their horror archives! Universal is preparing to release The Bikeriders on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on August 13. The film will be available for streaming digitally exclusively on Peacock on August 9.

THE BIKERIDERS captures a rebellious time in America when the culture and people were changing. After a chance encounter at a local bar, strong-willed Kathy (Comer) is inextricably drawn to Benny (Butler), the newest member of Midwestern motorcycle club the Vandals, led by the enigmatic Johnny (Hardy). Much like the country around it, the club begins to evolve, transforming from a gathering place for local outsiders into a dangerous underworld of violence, forcing Benny to choose between Kathy and his loyalty to the club.
