'The Death of Superman' Planned for Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray[teaser]The mother of all battles is the focus of the next DC animated movie this August. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers says 'The Death of Superman' will be available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on August 7. A Deluxe Edition of the Blu-ray with a Superman figurine will also be available on the same date. The Death of Superman ultimately finds Superman in a fight to the finish when the Man of Steel becomes the only hero who can stand in the way of the monstrous creature Doomsday and his unstoppable rampage of destruction. The all-star cast is led by Jerry O’Connell (Crossing Jordan, Stand By Me), Rebecca Romijn (X-Men, The Librarians) and Rainn Wilson (The Office) as the voices of Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively. 'The Incredibles' Announced for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray[teaser]The Parr family will save the day on 4K Blu-ray in June.[/teaser] According to recent pre-order listings posted on Best Buy, Disney is prepping The Incredibles for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. In addition, a Best Buy Exclusive 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook will also be available. The release date for the standard edition is currently listed as June 12 while the SteelBook is listed as June 5 -- so it's not yet clear if one of those dates is an error. 'The Avengers,' 'The Deer Hunter,' 'The Matrix Reloaded,' and More Rumored for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray[teaser]Several new 4K discs are reportedly in the works.[/teaser] According to a report by The Digital Bits, Disney might be gearing up to release Joss Whedon's The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray to coincide with the upcoming 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Avengers: Infinity War. On that note, the site's sources also indicate that Infinity War is being planned for an August home video debut. In addition, Warner Bros. is rumored to be adding The Wachowski's The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions to its 4K Blu-ray lineup later this year. The original Matrix is already scheduled to arrive on Ultra HD Blu-ray in the US on May 22, and a German release of the sequels has been announced for October 18. Meanwhile, Universal is said to be prepping Michael Cimino's The Deer Hunter for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in July. Lastly, Sony could be bringing David Fincher's Panic Room to 4K Blu-ray later this year as well. With that said, all of the titles mentioned above have yet be confirmed by their respective studios, so they should still be considered rumors for now.
