The First Season of CASTLE ROCK Announced for Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray[teaser]The first season of the Hulu series from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams arrives on both formats early next year. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers says Castle Rock: The Complete First Season will be available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on January 8. From Stephen King (Mr. Mercedes, It, 11.22.63) and J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Westworld, 11.22.63), Castle Rock is a new psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse. Castle Rock, which first premiered on Hulu, is an original story that combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of Stephen King's best loved works, while weaving an epic saga of darkness and light that's played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. Castle Rock has been picked up for a second season on Hulu. The first season of Castle Rock follows Henry Deaver (André Holland, American Horror Story), a Death Row attorney who returns to Castle Rock, Maine, his hometown, after he receives an anonymous phone call from the infamous Shawshank State Penitentiary. The call is about a nameless young man (Bill Skarsgård, It) who is found locked in an underground cage that's located in a long-abandoned cell block beneath the prison. Upon his discovery, the mysterious young man, with a sinister and unnerving presence, whispers Henry's name. Curious about how and why someone left this boy imprisoned, Henry is drawn into the case and attempts to help him. But there are reasons why "The Kid" was imprisoned. And reasons why he should never be set free. Permeated with a sense of foreboding and dread, the haunting small town of Castle Rock is not willing to let Henry leave. Aside from now having to deal with the strange young man found in the prison, Henry is faced with the fact that his adoptive mother (Sissy Spacek, Carrie), who lives in Castle Rock with retired Sheriff Alan Pangborn (special guest star Scott Glenn), is struggling with the onset of dementia. Reluctantly, Henry stays to figure out just who "The Kid" is and how he wound up imprisoned under such appalling circumstances. In addition to Holland, Skarsgård and Spacek, the series also stars Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men) as Molly Strand, Jane Levy (Suburgatory, Shameless) as Jackie Torrance and recurring guest star Terry O'Quinn (Lost) as Shawshank's Warden Dale Lacey. Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements include: Blood on the Page (New Featurette) A Clockwork of Horror: Merging the styles of Stephen King & J.J. Demo Discs: Essential DTS:X MoviesThere may be two competing formats for object-based audio, but thankfully they're on good terms. The mix beautifully captures the everyday life of an astronaut all the way up through the incredible launch sequence to the dramatic end. The film has never looked or sounded better. Buy The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary Collection The fun of purchasing favorite films in a new format is the feeling of getting to experience the film all over again. When Jurassic Park hit 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Universal saw fit to give each film in the series a beautiful, sonically immersive DTS:X audio track. When you hear that T-Rex roar for the first time against the pitter patter of raindrops, you'll be glad you made the upgrade in your home equipment. Buy The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom What Jurassic Park experience is complete without the latest entry? The movie may not be the best entry in the series, but it is a heck of a lot of fun. And that DTS:X audio mix? It rattles the speakers and blows your hair back with every dino roar followed by the terrified scream of a hapless human getting chomped on. Buy The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Buy The Blu-ray Atomic Blonde A great soundtrack plus kickass action sequences, Atomic Blonde will give your DTS:X sound system a true and hearty workout. It's a fun flick made better by the terrific action-packed audio track. As Charlize Theron dispenses the fisticuffs, you'll be glad to have the volume cranked as each hit is met with a nice shudder and thump that puts you in the thick of the action. Buy The Blu-ray Buy The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Dreamgirls Director's Extended Edition When you have a dramatic musical event movie that hinges on sonic fidelity like Dreamgirls, you're going to be glad to have a dynamic DTS:X audio track. While it would have been great if this film had been given a 4K Ultra HD release, this Blu-ray is terrific and the songs have never sounded better. Buy The Blu-ray Phantom Thread While action, adventure, and science fiction films tend to stretch your sound system's muscle, the dramatic DTS:X mix for Phantom Thread is no slouch. The mix provides some tense atmosphere to the cavernous locations while localizing individual pinpricks as seamstresses busily stitch away. You're sure to enjoy the extra sizzle of some frying mushrooms as this potboiler thriller heats up. Buy The Blu-ray Buy The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Gladiator Ridley Scott's tribute to sword and sandal pictures has always enjoyed a dramatic and impressive audio presence and this new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release is no slouch. FIRST BLOOD, RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART 2, and RAMBO III Invading 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray[teaser]The first three films in Sylvester Stallone's iconic action franchise will be getting a 4K release in November. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part 2, and Rambo III for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on November 13. First Blood - He never fought a battle he couldn't win--except the conflict raging within his own soul. Academy Award®-nominee Sylvester Stallone stars as war hero John Rambo. An ex-Green Beret haunted by memories of Vietnam, he was once the perfect killing machine. Now he's searching for peace, but finds instead an over-zealous, small-town sheriff who's spoiling for a fight. All hell breaks loose when an unjustly imprisoned Rambo escapes and becomes the target of a massive manhunt. Now he must use all his cunning, combat skills and weapons training to stay alive and outwit his pursuers. Co-starring Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna, First Blood is an explosive action-thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final, powerful frame. Rambo: First Blood Part 2 - He's back! Superstar Sylvester Stallone is John Rambo, the ultimate action hero, in this explosive Oscar®-nominated sequel to First Blood that boasts a riveting screenplay by Sylvester Stallone and James Cameron (Titanic). Although the Vietnam War is officially over, Rambo remains the perfect fighting machine. But his survival skills are tested with a vengeance on a top-secret mission that takes him back to the jungles of Vietnam in search of American POWs. For when Rambo is double-crossed, this "expendable" hero, armed with just a bow, arrows and knife, must defeat savage enemies equipped with deadly firepower. Rambo III - The battle rages on as superstar Sylvester Stallone detonates the third blast in the action-packed Rambo series. Combat has taken its toll on John Rambo (Stallone), but he has finally begun to find inner peace inside a monastery -- until his friend and mentor Col. Sam Trautman (Richard Crenna) shows up to ask for his help on a top-secret mission in Afghanistan. A war-weary Rambo declines, but when Trautman is captured, Rambo erupts into a one-man firestorm to rescue his former commanding officer and decimate the enemy. It's an intense, pulse-pounding adventure that boasts unrelenting action and suspense from start to finish! Each release will feature a 5.1 DTS-HD MA lossless soundtrack (likely the same as the previous Blu-rays) and a brand new retrospective featurette -- plus previously released bonus materials. Lionsgate made no mention of HDR in their press release, so, for now, our best guess is that all three films will graded in HDR10. If that changes, we'll let you know. Suggested list price for each 4K UHD is $22.99. You can find the latest specs for each of these titles from our 4K Blu-ray Release Schedule, where they are indexed under November 13.Posted Wed Sep 26, 2018 at 12:08 PM PDT by: -
