Marvel's The Eternals from Director Chloeì Zhao Hits Dated & Detailed for Blu-ray & UltraHD February 15thMarvel's latest new addition to the MCU from Oscar-winner Chloeì Zhao arrives on digital January 12th with Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases dropping on February 15th, 2022. Standing as the lowest-rated MCU film to date, Chloeì Zhao's sprawling action science-fiction epic The Eternals extends the scope of the MCU with a new cast of powerful characters. Starring Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie - the film might have worked better as a Disney+ series than a feature film with so many new characters scrambling to get enough relevant screentime. I personally enjoyed it even though there were some very long and slow parts that probably could have been trimmed out and not be missed in the least. Fans of the film will get three purchasing options, a standard SDR Blu-ray, a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and of course Best Buy will be dropping their own exclusive 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook. Marvel's The Eternals - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Marvel's The Eternals - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook Marvel's The Eternals - Blu-ray In keeping with Disney's tradition for their physical releases, we expect the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray to only offer HDR10 where the streaming release will have Dolby Vision HDR. The 4K will come with Atmos - hopefully it's a powerful mix and not neutered. The standard Blu-ray will sport a DTS-HD MA 7.1 track. Up For Pre-Order: John Carpenter's Escape From L.A. Hits 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray 2/22/22John Carpenter fans can look forward to Snake Plisken in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray this February 22nd, 2022 Paramount Home Video today officially announced plans to bring John Carpenter and Kurt Russell's Escape From L.A. to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Almost two years ago Scream Factory punched out their excellent Collector's Edition Blu-ray, well now you'll have to grab it again to keep that Carpenter collection alive and well. This makes me wonder when we can expect Event Horizon to get a similar visit on 4K disc... Escape From L.A. - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray The press release indicates that this one will get a Dolby Vision pass and offer DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio. But before you go selling off your Scream Factory discs, it looks like this is going to be a barebones release. The only listed bonus feature in the PR was a trailer. We've reached out to our PHV contacts to verify that end. While not the best Carpenter film ever, I'm glad to see it coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. It's very 90s and I feel it has a pretty good tongue-in-cheek sense of humor about big blockbuster action movies of the era. Escape From L.A. - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is up for Pre-Order now on Amazon, no sign or word of any kind of retailer exclusive packaging, but if that changes we'll let you know. Thanks again for your pre-orders. They really do go a long way towards keeping our little operation up and running. Here's the original PR from Paramount Home Video: DIRECTED BY JOHN CARPENTER, THE EXPLOSIVE CULT-CLASSIC ARRIVES ON4K ULTRA HD FOR THE FIRST TIME Kurt Russell Stars in the Action-Packed Sequel, Debuting on 4K Ultra HD February 22, 2022 Snake Plissken is back in the high-octane thrill-ride JOHN CARPENTER’S ESCAPE FROM L.A., arriving on 4K Ultra HD for the first time ever February 22, 2022 from Paramount Home Entertainment. Released in 1996, JOHN CARPENTER’S ESCAPE FROM L.A. was the highly anticipated follow up to the fan-favorite hit Escape from New York. Kurt Russell returns as anti-hero Snake Plissken, who is called upon to save the world from a doomsday device after a 9.6 quake levels most of Los Angeles. Experience every outrageous and eye-popping moment of the post-apocalyptic classic in stunning 4K Ultra HD, including Snake surfing Wilshire Blvd., shooting hoops at the Coliseum, and dive bombing the Happy Kingdom theme park. The film also features a wild assortment of friends, fiends and foes from a supporting cast that includes Steve Buscemi, Peter Fonda, Pam Grier, Stacy Keach, Cliff Robertson and Bruce Campbell. The 4K Ultra HD release features exceptional picture quality with Dolby Vision and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The disc also includes access to a Digital copy of the film and the original theatrical trailer. # # # About Paramount Home Entertainment Paramount Home Entertainment (PHE) is part of Paramount Pictures Corporation (PPC), a global producer and distributor of filmed entertainment. Can You Sell Kidneys on eBay? HDD December 2021 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray GuideAfter back-to-back-to-back months of highly-anticipated fan-favorite films, the wild and crazy holiday season gives folks a little bit of a breather in December. Well, maybe not much a breather but compared to the past two months December is going to be far less of a hit on the wallet giving you a little bit of an opportunity to recover. We're getting an interesting blend of old favorites and recent hits from major studios and boutiques alike. And if standard releases aren't enough, there's plenty of retailer exclusive packaging to take a gander at as well. That is of course if the supply chain issues continue to ease off. We haven't seen too many big scheduling shakeups nor have we heard of retailers having a tough time stocking products as we did in the early Fall. Hopefully, that continues because there's some great stuff coming. HIgh-Def Digest's December 2021 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Release Guide December 7th, 2021 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases While Disney/Fox has been teasing a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Michael Mann's classic thriller Heat for months, evidently they're going with a few different releases this month. Starting things out, we'll see a new animated adventure and a Cartoon Noir classic from the House of Mouse with Warner Brothers hitting Eastwood's latest and possibly last while KLSC and Scream Factory punch out some fan-favorites. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Best Buy SteelBook Ron’s Gone Wrong - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Cry Matcho - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Hard Target - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Krampus: The Naughty Cut - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Karate Kid Collection - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray December 14th, 2021 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray ReleasesNot to slow things down, Paramount is giving fans the upgrade of a recent Scorsese classic, a Spider-Man villain's solo sequel film, a Technicolor classic gets the Criterion treatment and everyone's favorite curmudgeon director Ridley Scott's latest film that apparently won't have any appeal to Millenials with phones arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. There's the big heavy hitter for the last Daniel Craig 007 outing followed with the Sopranos prequel film. Now the latest Hotel Transylvania has been slated to come out this month from retailers, but Sony has yet to officially call it or issue actual product artwork so if there's one that will likely get delayed - it's that one. 007 No Time To Die - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray 007 No Time To Die - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook 007 No Time To Die - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Limited Giftset The Many Saints of Newark - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray And again, for this next one, we haven't gotten official word that this release date is firm, we haven't gotten tech specs or a review request press release. We're just rolling that Amazon and other online retailers have this firm. If this changes we'll update ASAP. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray December 28th, 2021 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray ReleasesAnd with the Christmas holiday over, so go the big new releases... until January. This month is extremely light with Discotek Media delivering a Japanese Animation classic to 4K. Robot Carnival - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray And that covers everything we expect to see arrive stateside on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. There are several UK, French, and German import titles we hope to cover - A River Runs Through It, The Lover, among others. We hope to cover them when/if we can get our hands on them, but shipping is awful slow these days. It sounds like supply chain issues are slowing down, we haven't heard that being a reason for further delays from any of our reps and contacts, but if any of the titles in this list move we'll update our listings and this article ASAP. And once again thanks for all of the pre-orders. It really does help keep our little operation up and running. Happy holidays and happy collecting!Posted Thu Dec 2, 2021 at 04:47 AM PST by: -

Ridley Scott's The Last Duel Charges Onto 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray On December 14thRidley Scott's latest medieval epic The Last Duel starring Matt Damon, Jodie Comer, Adam Driver, and Ben Affleck comes home to Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on December 14th. Much like every other Ridley Scott-directed medieval sword and armor film, The Last Duel failed to gain much of a following at the box office. While a hit with critics, few people braved the theater to see this film about a woman whose husband challenges her attacker to a duel to the death to restore her honor. I tried to see it myself, but it lasted at my local theater for all of a week. Even without a huge box office offering, it's nice to see Disney/Fox Studios giving this film a full 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release with Dolby Atmos audio. The Last Duel - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Obviously, The Last Duel is also coming out on Blu-ray, but Disney didn't send along the cover art for that set. I imagine it'll look pretty much the same. Also, there's no word as of yet about any kind of retailer exclusive packaging or SteelBook option. We're pretty sure Disney will keep to their usual pattern and offer the disc in HDR10 with the 4K streaming picking up Dolby Vision. The 4K disc will offer Atmos audio while the 1080p disc will only be equipped with a DTS-HD MA 7.1 mix. Bonus features are pretty light, amounting to all of a single featurette. Who wants to bet since this is a Ridley Scott film there will be a Director's Cut edition with more elaborate bonus features? That said, I do hope Disney/Fox has Kingdom of Heaven lined up for a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release. As of now neither the Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray are up for pre-order, but as soon as they are we'll update our listings ASAP. Here's the full press release: “INTELLIGENT AND GENUINELY DARING” – Ben Croll, IndieWire 20th Century Studios’ The Last Duel Arrives on Digital November 30 and on 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™ and DVD December 14 LOS ANGELES, CA (November 8, 2021) – 20th Century Studios’ historical epic, The Last Duel, unravels the true story about France’s last sanctioned duel. Arrrrrgh!!! Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Be Comin' to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray ARRRRGH!!!!At long last the first and best of the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is finally making landfall on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on January 2nd, 2022 Well - at least for now it's coming on January 2nd, 2022. If you look at your calendars that'd be a Sunday release day and I've never seen or heard of that ever happening. So expect that date to shift a couple of days to the 4th, or later into the month. However - the important thing to note is that Disney is still moving back catalog favorites that are already available in 4K on Disney+ and other streaming services to physical media. Could they be a little more aggressive and release the others not already on the format or do a big box set? Sure. That'd be pretty awesome. But for now, we're at least getting the first and best of the entire franchise and that's at least one small step in the right direction. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Note that at the moment we don't know if there will be any new bonus features or if Disney will break with their physical media tradition and offer Dolby Vision HDR in addition to HDR10. But, we do know this will come packed at the very least with Dolby Atmos audio. We also haven't had any word of any retailer exclusive packaging or Best Buy SteelBooks, but we'll stay on the lookout. As 2021 comes to a close, 2022 is already shaping up to be a solid year for new 4K releases.
