A sounder eSport world.
Imagine all thsoe eSports videos you've seen where a bunch of young men are screaming at each other from across the room, somtimes in animosity, sometimes to simply strategize. It doesn't have to be this way. We can live a better, safer life. ASTRO Gaming may be best known for its colorful gaming headsets (they just solidified a deal with Microsoft to exclusively develop upcoming 'Halo' headsets), but they're also gaining ground in the world of LAN communication too. They've just cleared a patent on some important tech.
According to ASTRO's press release, the patent is "directed to technology used in team-based LAN communication, which is used in gaming competitions and professional gaming circuits. The patented technology is employed in ASTRO Gaming’s Game Communications Exchange, more commonly known as the Team MixAmp™."
Here is, exactly, what the Team MixAmp does for eSports:
"The Team MixAmp facilitates team communication at professional LAN gaming competitions by providing teammates with zero-lag, full-duplex voice communication seamlessly mixed in with each gamer’s individual game audio. Prior to the invention of the Team MixAmp, pro teams were dependent upon less-than-optimal solutions, including lag-prone Voice-Over IP communication or good old-fashioned shouting. The Team MixAmp also provides broadcasters and tournament hosts with the ability to tap into and broadcast to their viewers live team chat and game audio during gaming competitions"
It's one of those under-the-radar things that you appreciate without considering. We thought we'd shine a little deserving light. The United States Patent and Trademark Office apparently felt the same way.
Jordan Reiss, co-Founder & General Manager of ASTRO Gaming, recalls that the MixAmp was actually one of ASTRO's inital innovations.
“The ASTRO Gaming Team MixAmp was a true game changer in competitive LAN gaming," he said, "literally transforming the playing field for both players and spectators alike.”
