It's happening again.
The rumors are true, Activision is reviving the 'Guitar Hero' franchise. But where 'Rock Band' appears to be a straight up revival, 'Guitar Hero' is going into a new direction. This is mainly due to two big changes. First off, there's a new guitar design, which features two rows of three buttons. Beginners stick with the closer row, while more advanced players use all six. The second and most immediately obvious change is that the new game, which is called 'Guitar Hero Live,' will be split into two portions. The 'Live' portion is a first person live-action affair while GHTV will revolve around music videos.
Much like guitar games of the past, the 'Guitar Hero Live' version features crowd and band reaction in line with player performance.
'Guitar Hero Live' is being developed by FreeStyleGames, developer of 'DJ Hero' and 'DJ Hero 2.' The dual format Live and GHTV set-up is something that is meant to be dynamically updated, allowing Activision to constantly add music.
'Guitar Hero Live' is set to be released this fall for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, 360, Wii U and select mobile devices. The console versions are up for preorder for $99.99.
