Free game incentive paying some dividends.
After only four days of availability worldwide, 'Mario Kart' sales momentum continues. The previous seven installments have already totaled over 100 million units sold, but it's the newest game that is tied to the current fate of Nintendo's HD home system, the Wii U. 'Mario Kart 8' went on sale in Japan last Thursday and in the Europe and the Americas on Friday, and Nintendo has announced that 1.2 million Units have already been sold. As the first HD 'Mario Kart' and easily the most compelling Wii U exclusive thus far this year, the new game is a must-buy for many Wii U fans. Even so, it's also likely that the game's special free game incentive helped early sales as well.
Those who purchase the game and register before July 31st can pick from one of four Wii U titles: 'New Super Mario Bros. U,' 'Pikmin 3,' 'The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD,' and 'Wii Party U.'
