Doing some modern-day dungeon diving.
'Final Fantasy XV' took the stage at PAX West this weekend to show off something a little different in the game. The crew traveled down into a goblin-infested mine to explore a sidequest that, according to the presenters, hadn't been seen before.
Most of the gameplay video focuses on the game's combat as the game's four primary protagonists face off in group battles against hordes of goblins. The presenters showed off a mix of quick lighter weapons and heavy, two-handed weapons that dealt impressive damage when they managed to connect. The presenters also showed off a bit of specially concocted magic that ended up taking a turn for the worse when a lightning spell shocked every member of the group when it hit a metallic floor.
The sidequest ended with a high-level boss, much too powerful for the lower-level player characters to handle. The presenters noted that that enemy would be present in that area no matter when the player reached it, so those looking for a strategic challenge can try to take on this particular sidequest earlier in the game while others might want to wait until they've managed to garner a couple dozen levels under their belt.
The gameplay session then moves on to a quick Chocobo race before showing off a duo of boss battles.
All told, the session produced around a half-hour of 'Final Fantasy XV' gameplay. You can watch the whole thing via the Twitch VOD below. The gameplay starts around the 20 minute mark. (Those wearing headphones might want to use caution as well—though the game audio sounds fine, the recorded commentary can run loud in places.)
