Invasions looking promising.
Ubisoft's 'Watch Dogs' has been pushed mainly on the merits of its single player story, which naturally puts the game's multiplayer modes in a state of doubt. Today, Ubisoft is showcasing three flavors of multiplayer, and the results are quite promising.
First up, is player invasion. By invading another player's game, a simple find before getting hacked objective is activated, but through the digital manipulation of the virtual Chicago, things get both hectic and compelling. The need to weed out the opposing player from the NPCs really seems to make this mode, and suddenly the game's surveillance options have a nice purpose.
Likewise, in the companion app's asynchronous multiplayer, one player's tablet bound duty is to deploy the various defenses of Chicago against the controller bound player.
Finally, a conventional team mode allows players their 'CounterStrike' fix.
