Details slip as dev kits roll out this week.
Nintendo remains, as usual, completely mum about what they're doing with their upcoming NX console, but while particulars are still a giant goose egg, some vague details have come out due to the fact that Nintendo has started shipping out development kits to third parties.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, sources are stating that the system "likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use."
This would make sense given that huge deal Nintendo made earlier this year for mobile support. But the way that sounds brings visions to my head of how the PS4 current works with the Vita when it comes to Remote Play. Which, in case you haven't had the pleasure, happens to be pretty spectacular. It also seems to be the logical graduation of what Nintendo tried to do with the WiiU, and even though it's only towards the end that the WiiU has started to realize the potential in that idea, it bodes well that the NX might be the system to get it all the way right.
It'll also help that the same report states that the system will be powered by "industry-leading chips", intended to stave off the criticism that the WiiU was grossly underpowered compared to its Playstation/Xbox competition. Bearing in mind that said underpowered chipset still got us games looking as good as 'Bayonetta 2', and 'Mario Kart 8' and Nintendo playing with power again should get everyone a little giddy.
Regardless, however, the fact that dev kits are now floating around means that we're bound to hear some specifics straight from Big N sooner rather than later. Keep an eye out.
