Better late than never.

A new expansion for 'Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition,' titled 'Siege of Dragonspear,' is being released 17 years after the original game's launch, and an announcement trailer for the expansion has been released courtesy of Beamdog, the publisher behind the classic RPGs' enhanced editions.

Set between 'Baldur's Gate' and 'Baldur's Gate II,' the expansion pack will contain 25 hours of new content, according to the expansion's website. It will also utilize the original Infinity Engine that has been used since the first game's 1998 release. 'Siege of Dragonspear' will introduce several new characters, items, quests, and a new shaman class. Since it is an expansion for 'Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition,' players will be able to continue the story with their 'Enhanced Edition' character. They'll also be able to export that character to 'Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition' if they want to keep going with the same hero.

Though the expansion doesn't have any pricing or release date yet, Beamdog has said that 'Siege of Dragonspear' will launch for PC, Mac, and Linux, with iOS and Android versions releasing later. The expansion will support cross-platform multiplayer as well, meaning you can quest with up to five of your friends no matter what kind of system they're running.
