Shortly after the developer said that Survival Mode might not be completable, in-game messages reveal several survivors.
In the normal ZombiU campaign, the player respawns as a new player character after their old character succumbs to infection. In Survival mode, infection ends the game. "(one) chance, one life."
In a recent interview posted on www.nintendo.co.uk, Ubisoft managing Director, Xavier Poix related the height of the mode's difficulty, "I think it must have been only two or three days before we finished work on the game before anyone made it all the way to the end."
Elsewhere in interview, it was revealed that clearing Survival mode would grant the player "bragging rights." At Kotaku, the user thought to be the first to beat Survival mode was noticed as lauded in one of the in-game dev messages. Later, it was confirmed that eight other players had already beaten the mode and been mentioned in-game.
