'Superman Returns' to Blu-ray with High-Res Audio

Warner has announced that it will re-issue Bryan Singer's 'Superman Returns' on Blu-ray this September, this time with Dolby TrueHD and PCM soundtracks.

Originally released on Blu-ray in November 2006, 'Superman Returns' left most fans underwhelmed with its lack of high-res audio support -- especially as the HD DVD version enjoyed full Dolby TrueHD audio.

Warner has now issued an early retail alert which details plans to rectify the situation with a new Blu-ray version of 'Superman Returns,' due on September 9, that will replace the previous (and now discontinued) edition on store shelves.

Bearing a new UPC code, the re-issue will feature a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p/VC-1 video and both Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround audio options.

There are no other changes to the supplements package, with extras mirroring the previous high-def releases.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.95.
