Universal Planning Dual 'Hellboy II' Blu-ray Sets

In an early alert to the trades, Universal has announced plans to bring two versions of 'Hellboy II' to Blu-ray this November in two-disc and three-disc collector's edition configurations.

Buoyed by strong critical notices and a $75 million box office take, 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army' outgunned the performance of its predecessor to become one of the summer's bigger comic book-based hits.

Though Universal has yet to send out an official press release, a splashy ad in next week's trades has revealed early details on the home video release, which will hit Blu-ray and standard DVD day-and-date in two-disc and three-disc editions.

Tech specs and supplement details are still slim, but according to the ad, fans can look forward to high-def exclusive features including a "Build Your Own Comic Book" function and additional BD-Live content. All versions will also contain a Digital Copy of the film.

Complete details are also still to be revealed for the three-disc set, but the deluxe Blu-ray set will feature collectible packaging with additional goodies, including a painted Hellboy bust and more TBA.

Suggested retail price for the two-disc Blu-ray has been set at $39.98, and $64.98 for the 3-disc edition.

As we await full specs, you'll find preliminary details for 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under November 18.
