"Sometimes dead is better."

Paramount has released a new trailer for Pet Sematary, revealing a notable twist on the original plot from Stephen King's novel. The movie comes from directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, and is set to haunt theaters on April 5, 2019.

Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

Check out the new trailer below!

The film stars Jason Clarke as Louis Creed, John Lithgow as Jud Crandall, Amy Seimetz as Rachel Creed, Jeté Laurence as Ellie Creed, and Hugo Lavoie as Gage Creed. David Kajganic and Jeff Buhler serve as writers on the project, adapting the script from Stephen King's 1983 novel.

Pet Sematary was previously brought to the big screen in 1989 by director Mary Lambert. Author Stephen King wrote the script for that version which starred Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby, and Fred Gwynne. The original film is set to make its Ultra HD Blu-ray debut on March 26 to mark the movie's 30th anniversary. Supplements will include:
