Though it failed to sprinkle much fairy dust on the summer box office, Paramount has announced it will bring the big-budget fantasy 'Stardust' to HD DVD this December.
With a reported production budget of over $70 million and starring such heavy hitters as Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro, 'Stardust' was one of the most high-profile and eagerly-awaited adventure films of the year. But despite a heavy marketing push from Paramount, the movie received only a tepid from both critics and audiences, eventually scrapping up a total worldwide gross of $64 million.
Fantasy fans will have another chance to decide the fate of 'Stardust,' however, when Paramount debuts the flick day-and-date on both HD DVD and standard-def DVD on December 18.
Tech specs include 1080p video and (continuing Paramount's recent trend of not including high-res audio on their HD DVD releases) Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround tracks in English, French and Spanish.
No supplemental details have been announced as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.
