[UPDATE] Scott Derrickson's The Black Phone Calls Up A Chilling 4K UHD SteelBook & Mediabooks from TurbineStylishly creepy, The Black Phone is finally coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with a chilling exclusive SteelBook from Turbine Medien Horror runs in the family when Joe Hill's creepy story The Black Phone became a surprise sleeper hit. Hellraiser Inferno and Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson took the basics of the story and ran wild with it letting Ethan Hawke deliver one of his best (and scariest) performances of his career. When it came time for this great flick to hit home video, sadly Universal left fans to a standard Blu-ray release a year ago. Now that Universal is on the double-dip train for a bunch of their upcoming horror disc releases, German label Turbine Medien is giving fans a serious reason to import this one with a damned beautiful and creepy 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook release The Black Phone 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook [German Import] Here's everything you're getting in the set: Technical specifications: Voice / Sound: German Dolby Atmos, English Dolby Atmos Aspect ratio: 2.39:1 (2160p24 Ultra HD with HDR10 and Dolby Vision) Subtitles: German, German for the hearing impaired, English, English SDH Running time: 103 minutesBonus material: Audio commentary by writer/director Scott Derrickson Removed scenes Featurettes: Behind the Scenes The Devil in Design Ethan Hawke's Evil Side Super 8 Set Promo Featurette Scott Derrickson's short film SHADOWPROWLER* Trailer from Germany & USA [UPDATE 9/1/2023] Quick update for this release of The Black Phone on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Turbine has sweetened the pot with a trio of Mediabooks also due to drop on October 5th 2023 that will feature the same disc content but also offer a 44-page booklet with essays and interviews. These Mediabooks are especially slick, you get the option of the same art as the Steelbook, but also what looks closer to the original theatrical poster art, as well as one more chilling option that looks like a distressed paperback that's especially cool looking. Prey Breaks Out Of Streaming Hell to Stalk 4K UHD and Blu-rayThe best "Predator" franchise film in years finally hunts down a Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release on October 3rd. If Prey taught us anything its that good movies shouldn't be stuck on streaming. After doing gangbuster streaming numbers on Hulu (and the overseas Disney-owned counterparts), the film that would have put up serious box office cash at a time when theaters needed great content is finally coming home to disc. Considering the four previous films (one of which we'd just as well like to forget) are available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray already, collectors won't have to turn to shady bootlegs to complete their collections. Now if Netflix would only do the same for Glass Onion... Now the press release we received didn't stipulate HDR grade, but given this is a 20th Century Studios/Disney release, it's all but assured that'll be HDR10, but the disc specs do confirm Atmos audio. Considering the film's intense sound design, Atmos is an essential pickup, but it also looks like the badass Commanche dub track will be included as well! On top of that, we're getting what looks like some pretty great bonus features: Bonus Features Making of Prey: Step behind the scenes of Prey as the cast and crew explore the genesis of the project, how they gave authenticity to the story, the intense physical training the cast endured, and the effects work that brought the iconic Predator back to the screen. Prey FYC Panel With Cast & Crew: Go deeper into Prey with a lively panel discussion featuring director Dan Trachtenberg, actor Amber Midthunder, producer Jhane Myers, director of photography Jeff Cutter, film editor Angela M. Catanzaro and creature effects designer Alec Gillis. Alternative Opening Scene: Check out a scene that didn’t make the cut with commentary by Dan Trachtenberg. Deleted Scene: Big Warrior, Little Warrior: Check out a scene that didn’t make the cut with commentary by Dan Trachtenberg. Deleted Scene: Treetop Chase (pre-vis): Check out a scene that didn’t make the cut with commentary by Dan Trachtenberg. The Criterion Collection Announces November 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Line-UpThe titles include Peter Bogdanovich's The Last Picture Show, Terrence Malick's Days of Heaven, and Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets each on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray. Plus Claude Chabrol's La cérémonie as well as the boxed set Jackie Chan: Emergence of a Superstar on Blu-ray. Leading the charge on November 7 is Jackie Chan: Emergence of a Superstar - a boxed set of six of martial arts legend Jackie Chan's films. Jackie Chan: Emergence of a Superstar - The Criterion Collection Originally tapped as a potential successor to Bruce Lee, Hong Kong martial-arts phenom Jackie Chan soon established his own unique screen persona, blending goofball slapstick and bone-crunching kung fu into intricate feats of supercharged athleticism. Tracing his rise from breakout star to full-fledged auteur, these six unabashedly silly, unstoppably entertaining early-career highlights find Chan refining the lovably mischievous image that would make him a global icon, while also assuming greater creative control over his projects—first as his own martial-arts choreographer, and later as a writer-director who set a thrilling new standard for daredevil action comedy. The films included are Half a Loaf of Kung Fu (1978), Spiritual Kung Fu (1978), The Fearless Hyena (1979), Fearless Hyena II (1983), The Young Master (1980), and My Lucky Stars (1985). The Last Picture Show - The Criterion Collection 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray One of the key films of the American seventies cinema renaissance, The Last Picture Show is set in the early fifties, in the loneliest Texas nowheresville to ever dust up a movie screen. This aching portrait of a dying West, adapted from Larry McMurtry’s novel, focuses on the daily shuffles of three futureless teens—enigmatic Sonny (Timothy Bottoms), wayward jock Duane (Jeff Bridges), and desperate-to-be-adored rich girl Jacy (Cybill Shepherd)—and the aging lost souls who bump up against them in the night like drifting tumbleweeds, including Cloris Leachman’s lonely housewife and Ben Johnson’s grizzled movie-house proprietor. Featuring evocative black-and-white imagery and profoundly felt performances, this hushed depiction of crumbling American values remains the pivotal work in the career of invaluable film historian and director Peter Bogdanovich. 4K UHD + BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES 4K digital restoration of the director’s cut, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack One 4K UHD disc of the film presented in Dolby Vision HDR and two Blu-rays with the film and special features Texasville (1990), the sequel to The Last Picture Show, presented in both the original theatrical version and a black-and-white version of Peter Bogdanovich’s director’s cut, produced in collaboration with cinematographer Nicholas von Sternberg Two audio commentaries, featuring Bogdanovich and actors Cybill Shepherd, Randy Quaid, Cloris Leachman, and Frank Marshall Three documentaries about the making of the film Q&A with Bogdanovich from 2009 Screen tests and location footage Introduction to Texasville featuring Bogdanovich, Shepherd, and actor Jeff Bridges Excerpts from a 1972 television interview with filmmaker François Truffaut about the New Hollywood Trailers English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by film critic Graham Fuller and excerpts from an interview with Bogdanovich about Texasville, with a new introduction by Bogdanovich biographer Peter TonguetteCover by F. Ron Miller Also on November 14 comes Terrence Malick's Days of Heaven on 4K UHD Blu-ray with what looks like a new Blu-ray version, too. Days of Heaven - The Criterion Collection 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray One-of-a-kind filmmaker-philosopher Terrence Malick has created some of the most visually arresting films of the twentieth century, and his glorious period tragedy Days of Heaven, featuring Oscar-winning cinematography by Nestor Almendros, stands out among them. In 1910, a Chicago steelworker (Richard Gere) accidentally kills his supervisor, and flees with his girlfriend (Brooke Adams) and his little sister (Linda Manz) to the Texas panhandle, where they find work harvesting wheat in the fields of a stoic farmer (Sam Shepard). A love triangle, a swarm of locusts, a hellish fire—Malick captures it all with dreamlike authenticity, creating a timeless American idyll that is also a gritty evocation of turn-of-the-century labor. DIRECTOR-APPROVED 4K UHD + BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital restoration, supervised and approved by director Terrence Malick, with 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack One 4K UHD disc of the film presented in Dolby Vision HDR and one Blu-ray with the film and special features Audio commentary featuring editor Billy Weber, art director Jack Fisk, costume designer Patricia Norris, and casting director Dianne Crittenden Audio interview with actor Richard Gere Interviews with camera operator John Bailey, cinematographer Haskell Wexler, and actor Sam Shepard English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by critic Adrian Martin and a chapter from director of photography Nestor Almendros’s autobiography Cover by Lucien S. Y. Yang On November 21, Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets will hit 4K UHD Blu-ray. The release will also be available on Blu-ray. Mean Streets - The Criterion Collection 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Martin Scorsese emerged as a generation-defining filmmaker with this gritty portrait of 1970s New York City, one of the most influential works of American independent cinema. Set in the insular Little Italy neighborhood of Scorsese’s youth, Mean Streets follows guilt-ridden small-time ringleader Charlie (Harvey Keitel) as he deals with the debts owed by his dangerously volatile best pal, Johnny Boy (Robert De Niro), and pressure from his headstrong girlfriend, Teresa (Amy Robinson). As their intertwined lives spiral out of control, Scorsese showcases his precocious mastery of film style—evident in everything from his propulsive editing rhythms to the lovingly curated soundtrack—to create an electrifying vision of sin and redemption. DIRECTOR-APPROVED 4K UHD + BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital restoration, approved by director Martin Scorsese and editor Thelma Schoonmaker, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack One 4K UHD disc of the film presented in Dolby Vision HDR and one Blu-ray with the film and special features Excerpted conversation between Scorsese and filmmaker Richard Linklater from a 2011 Directors Guild of America event Selected-scene audio commentary featuring Scorsese and actor Amy Robinson New video essay by author Imogen Sara Smith about the film’s physicality and portrayal of brotherhood Interview with director of photography Kent Wakeford Excerpt from the documentary Mardik: Baghdad to Hollywood (2008) featuring Mean Streets cowriter Mardik Martin as well as Scorsese, journalist Peter Biskind, and filmmaker Amy Heckerling Martin Scorsese: Back on the Block (1973), a promotional video featuring Scorsese on the streets of New York City’s Little Italy neighborhood Trailer English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by critic Lucy Sante New cover by Drusilla Adeline/Sister Hyde Design And lastly also on November 21 is Claude Chabrol's La cérémonie on Blu-ray. La cérémonie - The Criterion Collection Claude Chabrol’s forty-ninth feature stands as the crowning achievement of his prolific career—a coolly riveting study of class dynamics, the psychology of crime, and the sordid secrets lurking beneath the veneer of everyday life. A fascinatingly enigmatic, César Award–winning Isabelle Huppert is the chaotic yin to Sandrine Bonnaire’s tightly coiled yang. They are, respectively, a small-town postal worker and a maid to a wealthy family, a pair of outsiders who form a mysterious alliance that gradually, almost imperceptibly, goes haywire. With a master’s control of sound, editing, and suspense, Chabrol constructs a tour de force of sustained tension that delivers each brilliant shock with ice-pick precision. BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital restoration, with 2.0 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack Selected-scene commentary featuring Claude Chabrol New introduction by filmmaker Bong Joon Ho Making-of program Archival interviews with Chabrol, actor Sandrine Bonnaire, and cowriter Caroline Eliacheff Episode of the Criterion Channel series Observations on Film Art about the use of offscreen sound Trailer New English subtitle translation PLUS: An essay by crime-fiction and true-crime authority Sarah Weinman New cover by Eric Skillman Pre-orders should be available sometime in the next week or two and we'll be sure to update the website as soon as they are.Posted Tue Aug 15, 2023 at 07:37 PM PDT by: -
Up For Preorder: Stephen King's The Mist Creeps Over 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray October 3rd [UPDATED]"Welcome to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray kids, today's word is 'expiation'" Lionsgate is set to release Frank Darabont's chilling and devastating fan-favorite Stephen King adaptation The Mist on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Not to worry some fans, this is a four-disc set! While we don't have full specs about what this set will entail (yet), a four-disc set would imply that the full-color Theatrical version as well as the Black and White Director's Edition will be featured in 4K and 1080p! Again we don't have full specs and I wanted to wait to post on this but the official press release hasn't come in yet meanwhile the standard Blu-ray and the Best Buy SteelBook are both up for pre-order. Stephen King's The Mist - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Stephen King's The Mist - 4K Ultra HD Blu-rayBest Buy SteelBook I kinda dig the SteelBook art, I get what they're going for, but also it does look awful similar to The Thing 4K SteelBook artwork. I would have loved it if they could have used that classy Drew Struzan artwork from the previous Blu-rays. That's it for now, when that press release comes in we'll update our listings and article ASAP, but for now you can pick which artwork style you like best and get that preorder in! [UPDATE 8/11/23] After finding a random press release buried deep in my personal email's Promotional vault of spam messages, I found a little nugget of gold. According to this press release, fans can expect both the full color "Theatrical Edition" as well as the much more bad-ass black and white "Director's Edition" in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos audio. At least I think so with that last part, as far as press releases go, it's a little confusing when it gets to the disc specs but given this is a Lionsgate release, even I have to admit it's pretty rare for them to drop a 4K title without Atmos... still confused as hell about that with Sisu but weird shit happens, what can I say. Until we hear otherwise, the following details look to be legit and certainly welcome for one of my favorite horror films ever. SPECIAL FEATURES ALTERNATE BLACK & WHITE VERSION INCLUDED AUDIO COMMENTARY WITH WRITER-DIRECTOR FRANK DARABONT AND PRODUCER DENISE HUTH BLU-RAY™ ONLY: DELETED SCENES WITH OPTIONAL COMMENTARY BY FRANK DARABONT A CONVERSATION WITH STEPHEN KING AND FRANK DARABONT OVER 2 HOURS OF TOTAL BONUS MATERIAL PROGRAM INFORMATION Year of Production: 2007 Title Copyright: The Mist © 2007, Artwork & Supplementary Materials ®, ™ & © 2023 Lions Gate Entertainment Inc. So hopefully those relevant details - i.e. HDR grade and Atmos are correct. Once again, both of these sets are up and ready for pre-order! For your interest, check out that full press release below: National 4K HD™ + Blu-ray™ + Digital Date: 10/3/23 National 4K HD™ + Blu-ray™ + Digital SRP: $34.99 BEST BUY EXCLUSIVE National 4K HD™ + Blu-ray™ + Digital SRP: $37.99 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Based on the novel by Stephen King, The Mist, arrives on a SteelBook® in a National 4K HD™ (+ Blu-ray™ + Digital), plus a Best Buy exclusive release, on October 3rd from Lionsgate. Both releases include the color version and the alternate black & white version of the film. When a mysterious mist, and the supernatural creatures within, falls across their town in the wake of a violent storm, a group of local citizens must fend for themselves while trapped inside a local supermarket. They soon begin to realize that the real danger may not be from the monsters outside, but from tension and mistrust within. Written, directed, and produced by Frank Darabont, and starring Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Laurie Holden, Andre Braugher, Toby Jones, and William Sadler, The Mist will be available nationally for the suggested retail price of $34.99 and a Best Buy exclusive of $37.99. Tired of us prattling on about various releases of The Exorcist on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray yet? Well, we are too! After a whirlwind week of U.K. and European-only Deluxe Collector's editions and the listings going live on Best Buy and Amazon for standard releases, we can finally confirm what we already knew that William Friedkin's iconic horror masterpiece, The Exorcist, will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with both the original Theatrical Cut and the 2000 Director's Cut on disc in 4K. However, as we'll detail momentarily - aside from the audio commentaries all of the legacy bonus features will be available streaming only. So unless you have the past Blu-ray releases already, be sure to redeem that digital code instead of selling it! Here's what's coming to fans Stateside - The Exorcist: 50th Anniversary - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray The Exorcist: 50th Anniversary - 4K Ultra HD Best Buy SteelBook As we've already pointed out in previous articles and Facebook posts, foreign markets got some snazzy deluxe packaging options with booklets and extra swag - but those are pretty well all sold out unless you're willing to plug gray-market prices or if DiabolikDVD still has some ready for pre-order. For those looking to score the Best Buy SteelBook, it's currently listed as "Coming Soon" since it looks like the early pre-order allotment sold through, but it's a safe bet there will be plenty to pick up on street day. Here's everything that's going to be on disc or left to streaming: The Exorcist Ultra HD Blu-ray disc (theatrical version) contains the following previously released special features: Introduction by William Friedkin Commentary by William Friedkin Commentary by William Peter Blatty with Special Sound Effects The Exorcist Digital release (theatrical version) the following previously released special features: Commentary by William Friedkin Commentary by William Peter Blatty with Special Sound Effects Tests Introduction by William Friedkin "The Fear of God: 25 Years of the Exorcist" Original Ending William Peter Blatty Interviews "The Original Cut" "Stairway to Heaven" "The Final Reckoning" "Sketches & Storyboards" TV Spots "Beyond Comprehension" "You Too Can See the Exorcist" "Between Science & Superstition" "The Movie You've Been Waiting For" "Nobody Expected It" "Life Had Been Good" Trailers "Nobody Expected It" "Beyond Comprehension" "Flash Image" The Exorcist Extended Director’s Cut Ultra HD Blu-ray disc contains the following previously released special features: Commentary by William Friedkin The Exorcist Extended Director’s Cut Digital release contains the following previously released special features: Commentary by William Friedkin "Beyond Comprehension: William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist" "Talk of the Devil" "Raising Hell: Filming The Exorcist" "The Exorcist Locations: Georgetown Then and Now” "Faces of Evil: The Different Versions of The Exorcist" Radio Spots "The Devil Himself" "Our Deepest Fears" TV Spots "Most Electrifying" "Scariest Ever" "Returns" "Never Seen" Trailers "The Version You've Never Seen" “Our Deepest Fears” Now the press release we received didn't list Dolby Vision so expect HDR10 at minimum - audio is a bit of a mystery so we'll be checking in on that if they opted for Atmos, 5.1, or if they stuck with mono. Once again these are up for pre-order an we suspect most of you already placed your orders as soon as they went live - in which case if you ordered through our links, thank you very much. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later Scares Up a New 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook from Paramount September 26thYou can't have a slate of October horror disc releases without another appearance from Michael Myers! After already scoring an impressive 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray run thanks to Scream Factory, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later will be carving up a new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release from Paramount Home Entertainment with deluxe SteelBook packaging. Honestly, considering that release was barely a year old and that 3-Film set was the only way Scream could release it, I wasn't expecting a solo-title release of this film anytime soon. But given it's the 25th Anniversary, it shouldn't have been too surprising. The press release didn't give us a lot of details, but thanks to Amazon having the back J-card artwork posted, it does look like this release will offer up Dolby Vision HDR with DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio - although no bonus features are listed. We've made inquiries to find out those extra disc specs and if there will in fact be any bonus features or not. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray StreelBook and here's a closer look at the back J-Card details - Obviously as the ravenous Halloween fans that we are, we will be reviewing this ASAP. This is up for pre-order now, thank you for all of your pre-orders, they really do go a long way towards keeping our little operation up and running. For what it's worth - here's that Press Release: Get ready for horror season with iconic duo Laurie Strode and Michael Myers as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise classic HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER with a new Limited-Edition 4K Ultra HD SteelBook™ arriving September 26, 2023 from Paramount Home Entertainment. Oscar® winner Jamie Lee Curtis* returned as Laurie Strode in 1998 for a terrifying reunion with Michael Myers, 20 years after the original Halloween. Now the dean of a Northern California private school with an assumed name, Laurie must face the horrifying events of her past as the life of her own son hangs in the balance. Directed by Steve Miner and written by Debra Hill, John Carpenter, and Robert Zappia, HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER features a sensational supporting cast, including Josh Hartnett (in his feature film debut), Michelle Williams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adam Arkin, LL Cool J, and horror icon (and mother of Jamie Lee Curtis) Janet Leigh. One of the Greatest Batman Films Ever - Mask of the Phantasm Comes to 4K UHD September 12thCelebrating 30 years of animated Batman glory, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm has been fully restored for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Where was Kevin Conroy's Batman in that silly multiverse convergence scene in The Flash? If you're like me and starting to feel a bit old - news that Batman: Mask of the Phantasm celebrating its 30th Anniversary starts to hit hard. Originally planned as a direct-to-video release, the film was so good it demanded a theatrical run. I was 11 when I saw this incredible film in theaters and was always perplexed how this movie could be so amazing and yet all of my friends could think Batman Forever was a better movie. Now to celebrate its big anniversary, Warner Bros. is delivering fans a fully restored 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray to thoroughly scrutinize - hopefully, it's more akin to the excellent Batman: The Animated Series release and not that woefully scrubbed Max Fleischer's Superman set. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Already up for pre-order - here's the press release for all the gory details: BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF HERALDED FAN FAVORITE ANIMATED FILM WITH FULLY REMASTERED EDITION FOR 4K ULTRA HDTM AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2023 #BatmanMaskofthePhantasm4K BURBANK, CA (July 26, 2023) – Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the most universally acclaimed film in the Dark Knight’s legendary cinematic history when the newly-remastered animated movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, comes to 4K Ultra HD for the very first time. From Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, the film will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD on September 12, 2023. The release will also include an all-new featurette Kevin Conroy: I Am The Knight, which takes a look at the legacy of Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman for 30 years in film, television, video games and more. Rooted in DC’s acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series and released theatrically on Christmas Day 1993, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm has not only been ranked by Time magazine as one of the 10 best Super Hero movies ever, but is also arguably the core fans’ all-time favorite Batman film. The movie has been rated at the top of the Dark Knight film franchise by such popular entertainment media as Empire, Screenrant and Paste. And in the ultimate mainstream salute for its time, Gene Siskel & Robert Ebert didn’t initially review the film during its theatrical release, but later dedicated a portion of their At The Movies weekly TV series to pay compliment to the film – and voice their regret for not giving it the attention it deserved during its original run – when Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was distributed for home entertainment. The 4K HDR/SDR remaster of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was sourced from the 1993 Original Cut Camera Negative and was scanned at 4K resolution. Digital restoration was applied to the 4K scans to remove dirt, scratches and additional anomalies, but special care was given to not touch the film grain or the animation cel dirt that was part of the original artwork. This is the first time since its theatrical release that it is presented in its 1.85 aspect ratio. The original 2.0 mix and the 5.1 tracks were remastered to remove or improve defects such as pops, ticks, dropouts and distortion. The animated film features an all-star cast headed by the quintessential voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, alongside Dana Delany (Desperate Housewives, China Beach) as Bruce Wayne’s love interest, Andrea Beaumont, Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise) as the Joker, Stacy Keach (Nebraska, Prison Break, Mike Hammer) as Phantasm/Carl Beaumont, Abe Vigoda (Barney Miller, The Godfather) as Salvatore Valestra, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. (The F.B.I.) as Alfred, Hart Bochner (Die Hard) as Arthur Reeves, Bob Hastings (McHale’s Navy, The Poseidon Adventure) as Commissioner Gordon, Robert Costanzo (Forget Paris, City Slickers) as Detective Bullock, Dick Miller (Gremlins, The Terminator) as Chuckie Sol, and John P. Ryan (The Right Stuff) as Buzz Bronski. Additional voices included Pat Musick, Marilu Henner, Neil Ross, Ed Gilbert, Jeff Bennett, Jane Downs, Vernee Watson, Charles Howerton, Thom Pinto and Peter Renaday. The Batman: Mask of the Phantasm filmmaking team is composed of the award-winning core group behind Batman: The Animated Series. Eric Radomski and Bruce Timm directed the film from a screenplay by Alan Burnett, Paul Dini, Martin Pasko and Michael Reaves, based on a story by Burnett. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm will be available on September 12, 2023 to purchase Digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu and more. 4K Ultra HD Discs will be available to purchase online and in-store at major retailers. Pre-order your copy now. SYNOPSIS: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm opens with the city's most feared gangsters being systematically eliminated, and assumed blame falling on the Caped Crusader. But prowling the Gotham night is a shadowy new villain, the Phantasm, a sinister figure with some link to Batman's past. Can the Dark Knight elude the police, capture the Phantasm and clear his own name? Unmasking the Phantasm is just one of the twists in this dazzling animated feature, which provides new revelations about Batman's past, his archrival the Joker, and Batman's most grueling battle ever - the choice between his love for a beautiful woman and his vow to be the defender of right. SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE*: Kevin Conroy: I Am The Knight (New Featurette) – For 30 years, Kevin Conroy defined Batman for multiple generations using only his voice, best exemplified in the landmark film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Conroy passed away in November 2022, but his legacy lives on in 15 films, nearly 400 episodes of animated television series, a dozen video games, and as a live-action Bruce Wayne in the Arrowverse’s 2019-2020 “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event. Several of Conroy’s contemporaries – including animation legend Bruce Timm, Batman producer Michael Uslan and revered voice actress Tara Strong – pay tribute to the star who remains the Dark Knight for millions of Batfans. Bonus episode of Justice League: Unlimited featuring a cameo from Phantasm. *Special features are not available in 4K Ultra HD.
