The PS4 Now Has a Media Player, Supports USB & DLNA

No really.

Back before the PS4 first debuted, Sony announced as part of a larger disclosure that the PS4 could not and would not play back digitial video files of any sort through USB or DLNA. After some serious and immediate backlash, Sony relented, and stated that this oculd be something that would arrive a later, post-release date.

Well, it's been a long time, but at long last, the PS4 has a proper Media Player application, which supports both USB and DLNA media files. (Both music and video.)

Now before anyone is tempted to suggest that this feature set was a matter of course for the much older PS3, it's worth pointing out that the PS4 Media Player supports MKV files.

The Media Player app is available to download now via an icon in the PS4 UI
