'Rock Band 4' Gets Brutal On December 8th

'Rock Band 4's huge free December update is coming this Tuesday, and while Harmonix has already gone into detail as to what to expect, which is quite a bit, they were apparently hiding one more dastardly secret that'll be added to the game: Brutal Mode.

Here's the gist: A blue bar starts near the note catcher at the bottom of the screen. Notes will come as usual, but depending on how well you're acing the song, the bar will rise, obscuring more and more of the oncoming notes until, basically, you're flying completely blind. By then, you better know that Dream Theater track better than John Petrucci does, because the chart is not helping you out there.

IGN also managed to squeeze out of Harmonix that Brutal Mode can also be combined with the new Breakneck Speed options being added on Tuesday as well, because no one has ever gone broke catering to masochists before. Take a look at the new mode in action below. Try not to alarm anybody by the high pitched sound of your "NOPE".
