Looks like Google will become the game streaming king.
That hitch you feel in the internet isn't necessarily Netflix streaming, or even YouTube videos. It may just be game streaming, and Twitch is the king. Game streaming has become so big over the last three years that both Sony and Microsoft made it a premiere feature of their new consoles. The site has become so successful that Variety is reporting that Google (via YouTube) has struck a deal to acquire Twitch for $1 billion.
Twitch is the home to full-time streamers, competitive game tournaments, and even phenomena like the Pokémon community play. While a deal has been reportedly reach in principal, there are still some hurtles left before it could become official.
