Death ain't no way to make a livin' but it makes for a hell of a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray! German boutique label Turbine is giving fans another crack at Peter Jackson's 1996 scare-fest with a new three-disc 4K UHD + Blu-ray SteelBook!
Just a couple of years ago, Germany's turbine unleashed a jam-packed fully loaded Ultimate Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray release of Peter Jackson's The Frighteners. A genuine world-class effort (and worldwide exclusive), the set had everything fans could want all in one massive boxset. But not every fan wanted a box set - so now Turbine is unleashing this scary/hilarious Horror Comedy with a new slightly stripped-down 4K UHD SteelBook. You won't get everything from that huge box set, but you're still getting a damned terrific 4k release. Let's take a look:
The Ultimate Edition was available in two artwork options, the original theatrical poster and new custom art. This SteelBook is giving fans the best of both worlds with a Slipcase offering the original poster art and the SteelBook featuring the custom art. A three-disc set, this slimmed-down version offers the Theatrical and Director's Cuts in 4K UHD and includes the massive bonus features disc. It doesn't offer the film in 1080p and it also loses the 1080p Open Matte version as well, so keep that in mind if you've been eyeing this film for your collection.
Here's everything you're getting:
