Two more interviews are still to come.
After the announcement that Sega's 'Yakuza 5' would be making its way to the non-Japanese world, fans of the action-adventure franchise have been eagerly awaiting the localization of the title, which first released in Japan all the way back in 2012. To help stoke the flames of hype a little bit, PlayStation has introduced a new series of interviews featuring some of the game's developers. In the most recent video interview—the first of three—general director Toshihiro Nagoshi and producer Masayoshi Yokoyama talk about some of the themes that drove development of the game.
The main theme of 'Yakuza 5' is dreams. The game follows five protagonists, including the series' first female protagonist, through five Japanese cities as each chases his or her dream. The interview might have also touched on a reason that the game has taken so long in getting localized for Western players. 'Yakuza 5,' according to the developers, was very much developed for a Japanese audience, specifically for Japanese adults who, they say, don't have many games developed with them in mind.
If you want to learn more about the feel of the game or more about some of its five playable characters, you can check out the interview below, courtesy of the PlayStation Blog.
'Yakuza 5' is set to hit Western PS3s sometime this year.
