The days of the Oculus Rift as some pie in the sky dream are long past as the first consumer ready model (as in sold direct to consumers) gets ready to go. Today, just days before E3 2015 kicks off, Oculus is hosting their E3 Press Conference in San Francisco. The conference will have a gaming focus as it covers the future of VR and the Rift. The conference is set for 10AM PT and will be livestreamed below:

After showing off the hardware, which now includes a removal headphone set up. Oculus and newly announced partner Microsoft, announced several partner initiatives. For one, each Oculus Rift will ship with a wireless Xbox One controller and adapter. The Oculus Rift will be natively supported in Windows 10, and even more exciting, via Windows 10 Xbox One streaming, the Rift was shown being used with 'Forza Horizon 2.'

After showing off several games like 'Chronos,' Oculus explained how their Home software base would work. Home is meant to help make the Rift work easily with various hardware configurations, but it's also a way to let users navigate using VR. For example, when watching Rift game trailers from Home, those trailers will already be designed specifically for the Rift.

Today, Palmer Luckey announced the future of Oculus, which will require a new input device, the Oculus Touch.

These prototypes, which are called 'Half Moon,' are wireless two hand designs and use a matrix of sensors inside the device to sense finger positions as well as traditional buttons and triggers.
