But your first run might not be your last.
Update: See impressions from the game and an interview with the developer here. The review can be found here.
Supermassive Games' PS4 exclusive 'Until Dawn' is set to drop this week, and the developer has given expectant players a little information about how much time they'll be sinking into the game, at least for the first go around.
Speaking with Gamereactor, Supermassive Creative Director Will Byles said that players can expect a run time of nine hours for their first playthrough. With a game as decision-driven as 'Until Dawn,' players' game experiences will differ significantly based on which paths they choose, but Byles said that the developer tried to make game length consistent across all options.
"It is a little bit frustrating," Byles said, "but in the end we needed to make sure that no matter the path you choose, it was a satisfying path, that it worked, and that the player didn't feel cheated. We couldn't have a version that only lasted an hour, for example."
Of course, with such branching paths, players will need more than one playthrough to see everything the game has to offer.
