Kinect SDK 2.0 available now.
Microsoft has just released Kinect SDK 2.0, and equally important to developers, Kinect apps can now be commercially deployed in the Windows Store. Now to purchase a Kinect for Windows v2 sensor, will run the buyer $199.99 straight from Microsoft. But for those users that would rather just use their existing Xbox One Kinect or even the recently released $149.99 Kinect add-on (again from Microsoft), Microsoft has announced a Kinect Adapter for Windows.
The Kinect Adapter for Windows is available now for $49.99. According to Microsoft, this adapter allows you to use the Kinect for Xbox One with Windows 8.0 and Windows 8.1 through a USB 3.0 port. Purchasing the Kinect for Xbox One sensor along with the adapter brings it to price parity with the existing Kinect for Windows v2 sensor.
