And Spike Lee is heading up the game’s MyCareer mode.
NBA players Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry, and James Harden will be featured on three different covers of 'NBA 2K16,' and the game will feature a career mode written and directed by filmmaker Spike Lee, The Associated Press reported this morning.
Each of the three covers includes images of one of the three featured players from throughout his career with the tagline, "Be the story." The covers also highlight Lee’s involvement in the game’s MyCareer mode.
As an Oscar-nominated storyteller and high-profile New York Knicks fan, Lee seems like an obvious choice for someone to head up the narrative portion of the sports title while adding a little star power to the game’s credits. The MyCareer mode will follow a basketball player named Frequency Vibrations as he deals with hardship both on and off the court, according to the AP story.
"We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make," Lee told USA Today.
Though Lee is known for telling heavier stories in his films and is no doubt bringing some of that dramatic storytelling to MyCareer, the game is said to remain solidly in "E for Everyone" territory.
'NBA 2K16' will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC starting September 29.
Update: For 'NBA 2K16,' story is everything.
