Amazon releases their free game engine.
Amazon, continuing their foray into the games industry, has released their new game engine called Lumberyard. The engine is totally free (including the full source code) for developers and has full AWS Cloud and Twitch support to help build stream integration into gameplay. Amazon will also be providing access to GameLift, their multiplayer service. The only payment lies with what AWS features individual developers choose to use.
This certainly looks pretty, and the pricing scheme seems very fair. It'll be interesting to see if this takes off in future, with Unreal 4 and Unity being as accessible as they are. Still, this definitely seems to be an engine worth keeping an eye on.
