'Fallout 4' Team Can Take Lessons In Open World Development From 'Skyrim,' Director Says

Bethesda has refined its bug-squishing techniques.

Bethesda is no stranger to creating open world RPGs, seeing as how both the 'Fallout' and 'Elder Scrolls' franchises fall under the publisher's banner. Hopefully, this experience in dealing with the many bugs and challenges inherent in the development of huge, open games will serve the company well as it finishes up work on 'Fallout 4,' as director Todd Howard told Game Informer.

It's no secret that the post-release experience for 'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' involved a lot of bug fixing, and it took the development team a while to figure out the best way to deal with all of the reports coming in from players, according to Howard, who directed 'Skyrim' as well. Now that the team over at Bethesda has a better handle on how to take care of bugs as they crop up in a huge game like 'Skyrim,' the process should go more smoothly once 'Fallout 4' hits the public.

"I think we've gotten way better there," Howard told Game Informer.
