Game streaming starts to get a little more competitive.
Sony has announced that starting December 8, the company will be offering a 12-month PlayStation Now subscription for $99.99, though this offer will only be available for an unspecified "limited time."
Averaging out to a little more than $8 a month, PS Now is starting, at least in terms of cost, to more closely resemble other popular media streaming services. To try to convince those still on the fence, Sony also announced that a collection of new games from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be coming to PS Now when this new deal launches.
The 'Arkham' series will be fleshed out with 'Arkham Asylum' and 'Arkham Origins,' ('Arkham City' was already in the streaming selection), and two NetherRealm fighting titles—'Injustice' and 2011's 'Mortal Kombat'—are coming as well. Four new Lego games from Traveller's Tales, including both 'Harry Potter' games and the 'Lego Movie' game, are being added for those looking for more family-friendly titles.
These games join PS Now's existing library of streamable games, including last-gen installments of iconic franchises like 'Uncharted,' 'Assassin's Creed,' 'God of War,' and 'Infamous.'
PlayStation Now is Sony's cloud-based gaming service whereby players with a subscription can stream select PS3 titles to their devices.
