Take a walk.
Per chance, you may have heard that 'Tom Clancy's The Division' has gone live, and after several days spent with the game, we've have a review of the Xbox One version. (See it here.) Right now, the game could not be hotter, and with good reason, it's an addictive shooter that manages to be enthralling solo, with friends, randoms, and even with the treacherous PvP elements of the Dark Zone.
I've been full-on with the PC version day in and deep into the wee hours of the morning, and I still haven't hit a plateau. There are the missions, the smaller side encounters, and the seductive abyss of the Dark Zone. All the while, I try to avoid getting engulfed in flames from the Cleaners, or sniped, or devastated by an axe-wielding enemy.
Things are fun enough solo, as building the base, earning new skills, talents, and perks, and getting choice loot is yet to get dull, but I savor playing the game with friends. The PC version runs like a charm, which lets each firefight unfold in its own we got this/oh crap kind of way. The story just colors the encounters and the environments as anyone shooting at us is a bad guy worth dispatching (or in some cases, tactically avoiding).
After playing the beta on console, I thought using keyboard and mouse on the PC would be tricky, but it's excellent. (I've been playing off a SanDisk SSD with a EVGA GTX 970 SSC and that HyperX Cloud II that was recently on special.)
Of course, it's not a game for everyone, and I'm quite happen consuming it in earnest without a care about how I engaged I may be in a month's time. I think it's much better as a rush. This week has been a massive gathering that easily shook off the launch night issues. For anyone who has ever enjoyed a cover-based shooter, this is a game worth giving a serious try.
