You'll Just Have To Imagine The (Cross)Fire: WB Drops Dual-GPU Support For 'Arkham Knight'

Batman: Arkham Knight PC news

Crossfire and SLI development stopped.

At this point, the PC version of 'Arkham Knight' is less a case of game development than a salvage mission, just trying to get a broken heap to a point of basic usability. The last patch seems to have done that somewhat, but of all the other things Warner Bros still has yet to fix, it's now a matter of prioritization. And after a few weeks of banging their heads against a wall, apparently, dual-GPU support just isn't one of those priorities anymore.

In a brief, but pretty comprehensive reply to a user on Steam, the developer stated the following: "We’ve been working with our development and graphics driver partners over the last few months to investigate utilizing multi-GPU support within 'Batman: Arkham Knight'. The result was that even the best case estimates for performance improvements turned out to be relatively small given the high risk of creating new issues for all players. As a result we’ve had to make the difficult decision to stop work on further multi-GPU support. "

It's for the best, really: Last month's patch certainly made the game playable, but with a whole host of glitches and problems that, it must be repeated, the console ports simply do not have. It's at least good to see Warner Bros still at the grinstone trying to smooth out the issues, as well as still issuing refunds for folks who simply surrender.
