A grand game of tuf-of-war continues over the growingly popular video game streaming website, Twitch.
About a month ago, reports and rumors reached a concensus that Google was sure to purchase Twitch for around $1 billion dollars. Now, it looks like Amazon is trying to a write a similar check for the company, and the fools we are, we're taking it all in again. The report comes from the Wall Street Journal, saying they have the down-low on a potential purchase for over $1 billion.
Importantly, as before, neither Twitch nor the buying company, Amazon in this case, have released any official statement, nor is there much to go on than the word of the Wall Street Journal reporter. Amazon has certainly been making moves in the online content arena as of late, so this wouldn't be completely out of nowhere for them.
Then again, Google is a more natural fit for Twitch, having purchased and grown the YouTube property to astronomical heights. Check in next week when another behemoth tech company sneezes too loudly.
