Ladies And Gentlemen, 'The Last Guardian' Has Gone Gold

The Last Guardian

It cant possibly be good with such a short, swift development cycle.

It's a big deal when ANY game on ANY scale goes gold, which means that the product of thousands of sleepless nights for thousands of people has actually resulted in a product that's actually playable from beginning to end. But it's a whole other story when you're talking about a game that has been in production for a shade under TEN YEARS.

To wit, it feels insane to even be saying this after the long wait, but it's true: 'The Last Guardian' has gone gold.

Granted, that's still plenty of time for patches and tweaks and whatnot, but for a game that's been vaporware for a decade, that's a HUGE deal. As in, all three 'Bioshock' games, all three 'Mass Effect' games, three 'Halo' games, and four 'Gears of War' titles have happened since this started development. Ironically, the only other game that's got it beat for the longest dev cycle is 'Final Fantasy XV', which is only beating 'The Last Guardian' to market by a week.

The weeping over either that kid or Trico dying--because WE KNOW IT'S COMING--begins on December 6th.
