"unnannounced next-generation title" in the works.
Back when LucasArts worked on games like 'Knights of the Old Republic' and 'The Force Unleashed', Haden Blackman rose from the position of writer all the to franchise director for Star Wars. Post LucasArts, Haden went indie with Fearless Studios, which was acquired by Kabam at the end of 2011. Since that time Haden has worked on DC Comics 'Batmwoman' and is still working on Marvel's 'Elektra.' Haden also joined 2K Games, and now, 2K has announces that Blackman is in charge of a new studio, Hangar 13, which is located within 2K headquarters in San Francisco.
Hangar 13 is described (by 2K) as working on an unannounced next-generation title. (PS4, Xbox One, & PC) From Blackman's own words, it sounds like both the team and the engine are being assembled, which would put Hangar 13 at least 1-2 years from releasing anything finished.
From Blackman, “At Hangar 13, our mantra is ‘Every player story is unique.’ Our ambition is to create next-generation games that allow players to shape their own experiences, from the moment-to-moment gameplay, to the long-term impact on the world, characters and narrative. To realize this goal, we’re building proprietary technology and assembling a core team passionate about delivering mature experiences loaded with meaningful choices.”
A quick perusal of the openings at Hangar 13 suggests a third-person action title with an emphasis on modern vehicles and environments.
