'For Honor,' Ubisoft's upcoming medieval warfare game, will ship with a campaign (playable by one or two players) when it launches February 14, 2017. For all those players hoping for a look at the game's narrative, Ubisoft debuted a new campaign trailer and some single-player gameplay footage at its E3 conference today.
The trailer tells the story of how the game's three factions—the vikings, the samurai, and the knights—are locked in eternal conflict, though no faction remembers why. The player is then introduced to Apollyon, an antogonist that apparently is invested in keeping these factions at war.
The gameplay follows a lone viking warrior as he leads an army in a charge against a samurai stronghold. A bit of the game's parry-based melee combat mechanics shine through as the viking takes down groups of foot soldiers with ease before facing off against a more skilled samurai foe.
Ubisoft notes that players who want to go through the campaign as a duo can do so both locally via splitscreen and online.
