The occult classic makes its way to PC
Back in August, Degica teamed up with developer Cave to port their famed shmups to Steam, starting with 'Mushihimesama' earlier this year. Degica has now announced that the next Cave game they'll be porting is the gothic shooter 'Deathsmiles', which will be hitting Steam in Spring 2016.
Notably, 'Deathsmiles' is the first Cave shooter to have ever reached consoles in North America, with an Xbox 360 release courtesy of Aksys Games. The game later received ports to iOS and Android, which added a new playable character named Tiara, though it's not been made clear if she'll be playable in the Steam version. No details on pricing have been announced, but 'Mushihimesama' cost $20 at launch, so you can likely expect a similar price here.
'Deathsmiles' was the game that made me something of a fan of Cave's body of work, having picked it up on a total whim shortly after its release and absolutely loving it. While it's not my favorite game of theirs (that'd be 'Mushihimesama Futari', the sequel the aforementioned 'Mushihimesama'), it definitely holds a special place in my heart, and I'm eager to play this again when it hits Steam next year.
You can catch a trailer for the game below:
