The tournament kicks off at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT) with a pre-show starting a half hour earlier.
For the first time in 25 years, Nintendo has launched the official Nintendo World Championships. Sixteen tournament hopefuls—including six speedrunners, two YouTubers, and eight regional qualifier winners—gather in Los Angeles to duke it out across eight Nintendo games for a chance to be crowned the first Nintendo World Champion since the original tournament in 1990.
The NWC 2015 features the tournament debut of 'Splatoon,' Nintendo's new sorta-shooter.
Half of the competitors were invited to the tournament, while the other half played their way through qualifying matches at various Best Buy locations across the U.S. They will face off in a combination of new and classic Nintendo titles.
The tournament is hosted by gaming personality Kevin Pereira, with commentary coming from Andre of Black Nerd Comedy, Twitch's djWHEAT, and YouTuber Justin Flynn.
