A big year for game music.
Players know now that what they've known for years, video game soundtracks great and small, contain some of the best pieces of music created in modern times. But getting that recognition across to everyone else is a challenge. Classic FM, one of the UK's three private national radio stations, has seen some of this recognition coming by degrees every year. When Classic FM runs their yearly survey for the Classic FM Hall of Fame of classical music, selections from artists like Nobuo Uematsu have frequently penetrated deep into the list of 300.
This year, the recognition has grown to a new proportion. Out of the field of 300, 12 spots have been taken by classical video game music selections. This is up from 8 spots last year. This year, three pieces have gone into the top fifteen. The selections resulted after some 200,000 votes.

While one of last year's selections, (from Austin Wintory's Journey) did not return this year, there's little doubt that this has been a big step in increasing the exposure to the wonderful music that players are getting to experience every day.
