Minecraft: Xbox One Edition

Is it a good deal?

Today, amid the launch of 'Destiny' and the announcement of new iPhone models, there is a report circualting, via The Wall Street Journel, that Microsoft has comes to terms with with Mojang AB, maker the ongoing phenomenon, 'Minecraft.'  The report includes a purchase price for some $2 billion.  This for a company that reported $129 million in 2013 and recently launched versions of 'Minecraft' for both the PS4 and Xbox One.

In theory, Microsoft could ultimately look to make 'Minecraft' even more even featured o nthe Xbox platforms than it has been prior, or else even device a sequel, one developed either by Mojang or by another Microsoft partner. As is often the case with such deals, the question comes down to timing (why now?) and strategy.
