The audio company is integrating next generation surround sound tech into its products.

ATI (Amplifier Technologies Inc.) has announced that it will be offering support for the Auro-3D format in several upcoming preamp/processors marketed under ATI's Theta Digital, ATI and B&K brands. In addition, the company has also announced audio components that will support the object-based Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound technologies.

"ATI has always been at the forefront of audio innovation, and we believe that Auro-3D® represents the next generation in audio, taking sound into the third dimension. I'm delighted that this partnership agreement with Auro Technologies will allow us to offer the Auro-3D® experience to our customers," said Morris Kessler, President and Chief Designer of ATI.

Auro-3D is a surround sound format that aims to create a three dimensional soundfield by adding height and top layers to a traditional ear-level speaker setup. The format uses standard 5.1 and 7.1 speaker configurations as a base and then allows customers to add height speakers above their corner speakers at around 30 degrees. Likewise, if space permits, Auro-3D also supports ceiling-mounted speakers. New ATI products with Auro-3D support have not been announced yet, but support will be integrated into the company's recently detailed Theta Digital Casablanca IVa and Casablanca V Music and Cinema Controllers. Both devices also support Dolby Atmos and are DTS:X ready as well.

The Casablanca IVa will launch in the second quarter of 2015 for a suggested retail price of $17,995. The Casablanca V will be available in the third quarter of 2015 for a suggested retail price of $21,995.
