HD remake will both be easier and harder than the original.
'The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker HD' is coming this October, and Nintendo has already shared details on how the game will be easier and more accessible. Specifics for the tweaks include both a streamlined ability to sail, and the reduced state of a major late game fetch quest. The announced changes have not pleased everyone, as 'Wind Waker' veterans have not been pleading for an easier game.
Fortunately for them and for anyone else looking for a challenging 'Legend of Zelda' experience, 'The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker HD' will have two modes, a normal mode and a "Hero Mode." Apart from some tweaks, the normal mode will be in line with the difficulty of the original game. When it comes to Link's health, help is only as far away as a loose heart pick-up.
Not so for Hero Mode. Without loose heart pick-ups, players will only be able to recover from damage through potions and various fixed or one-time means of regaining hearts.
As for the streamlined sailing options, the game will included support for both the original controls and for the new style. As a toggle-able option, players can choose the old (crummy) way of directing the boat's direction through wind calls or the new fully controllable way, which promises a faster boat speed in addition to the increased maneuverability. With so much of the game involving sailing the vast map, the control options will have a big effect on the experience.
