Customers can now sort and access more apps through the SmartCast home screen.
VIZIO has announced new features for its SmartCast Home platform. As part of the update, users can now launch new apps directly from the home screen on their displays, along with the ability to sort on-screen apps in the order they prefer.
"VIZIO continues to fulfill consumer demands by way of free, rolling cloud-based updates that enable new, intuitive smart TV features via VIZIO SmartCast," said Bill Baxter, Chief Technology Officer, VIZIO. "With versatility, simplicity and value in mind, VIZIO SmartCast is an ever-evolving entertainment solution. Everyday users, cord-cutters and smart home enthusiasts alike are able to continuously receive new features, the latest apps, and other beneficial enhancements that help ensure they are getting the most out of their viewing experience."
With the new Personalized App Sorting feature, users can now change the order of apps that appear on the SmartCast home screen, allowing customers to place their favorite and most used services first. To reorder apps, users simple need to scroll to the end of the App Row on the home screen, select the "Sort App Row" icon, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Meanwhile, the update also adds CBS All Access to the selection of services included on the SmartCast home screen, allowing users to launch the app directly from a supported display. Likewise, YouTube TV, Baeble, Toon Goggles, and VIZIO WatchFree have also been added to the App Row for easy access.
Finally, the SmartCast platform now includes dedicated TV and Movie Detail pages with trailers, plot descriptions, credits, running time, ratings, critic insights, and more for each title. Likewise, the Detail pages will soon enable viewers to browse available seasons and episodes across multiple apps, allowing them to then select which service to watch them on.
The new SmartCast Home features are rolling out now through free cloud-based updates to VIZIO SmartCast 4K Ultra HD TVs and displays, and select HD and Full HD models. The 2018 VIZIO 4K HDR SmartCast TV lineup includes the E-Series, M-Series, P-Series (full review HERE), and P-Series Quantum (full review coming soon).
