Universal Bringing 'Friday Night Lights' to Blu-ray

Posted Nov 12, 2008 at 06:00 AM PST by Peter Bracke

Universal has announced its latest "catch up" title for Blu-ray, the sports drama 'Friday Night Lights.'

Released on HD DVD in 2006, the Peter Berg-directed hit (which went on to inspire the low-rated but critically-acclaimed TV series) will touch down on Blu-ray on January 6.

Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p video (2.35:1) and an English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track.

Bonus features will mirror the HD DVD, with audio commentary by Berg And writer Buzz Bissinger, six featurettes ( "Peter Berg Discusses A Scene In The Movie," "Player Cam," "Tim McGraw: Off The Stage," "The Story of the 1988 Permian Panthers," "Gridiron Gangs," "Behind the Lights") and deleted scenes.

High-def exclusives include BD-Live-enabled My Scenes Sharing.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.98.
