'The Hurricane' Announced for Blu-ray

Posted Nov 15, 2013 at 08:00 AM PST by Tom Landy

Norman Jewison's 1999 drama starring Denzel Washington will knock out Blu-ray in January.

In an early announcement to retailers, Universal will bring 'The Hurricane' to Blu-ray on January 7.

In the role that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, Washington stars in the true story of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, a man who, in the prime of his boxing career, finds himself sentenced to life in prison. There Carter publishes a memoir that inspires a teenager from Brooklyn and three Canadian activists to join forces and shed light on the truth. In the ultimate fight for justice, The Hurricane is one man's inspirational journey to prove his innocence and gain back his freedom.

The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a lossless 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Feature Commentary with Director Norman Jewison; Spotlight on Location: The Making of The Hurricane; Deleted Scenes: Play with Special Introduction by the Director; Theatrical Trailer and an Ultraviolet Digital Copy.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray will be $19.98.
