Ralph Bakshi's 1978 animated interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved classic is receiving the high-definition treatment in April.
Timed to coincide with the Blu-ray release of Peter Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings Trilogy,' Warner Brothers is also readying 'The Lord of the Rings (1978)' for Blu-ray on April 6.
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include a new featurette - Forging through the Darkness: The Ralph Bakshi Vision for The Lord of the Rings as well as a digital copy.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.99.
