'Suddenly' Blu-ray Announced

The 1954 crime drama starring Frank Sinatra has been restored from the original 35mm film elements and will hit Blu-ray this October.

In an early announcement to retailers, Film Chest will release 'Suddenly' on Blu-ray on October 16.

In a house atop a hill overlooking the train station where the president will arrive, three gangsters, led by John Baron (Frank Sinatra, 'From Here to Eternity'), have taken hostages Pop Benson (James Gleason, 'The Night of the Hunter'), his daughter Ellen (Nancy Gates, 'Some Came Running') and her son Peter III, a.k.a. "Pidge" (Kim Charney, 'The Werewolf'). Local sheriff Tod Shaw (Sterling Hayden, 'The Asphalt Jungle') and Secret Service agent Dan Carney (Willis Bouchey, 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance') are pitted against Baron, who's determined not to let anyone stand in his way.

Specs have yet to be detailed, but the release will be a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and supplements will include: Audio commentary by Sinatra historian Tom Santopietro; Liner notes; theatrical trailer; before-and-after restoration demo; and post card reproduction of the original movie poster.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $15.98.
