Royalty, wizards, psychics, and more are all heading to your favorite streaming devices.
Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu have released new trailers and info for several of their upcoming shows and movies, including The Crown: Season 2, Tales of Arcadia Trilogy, Ultimate Beastmaster: Season 2, Dark, The Benefits of Gusbandry: Season 2, and Shut Eye: Season 2.
In addition, Sony has announced the digital download launch of all nine seasons of Seinfeld, and AT&T has announced an early digital release for The Ballad of Lefty Brown through DirecTV Cinema.
Let it Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992 (Netflix, Now Streaming) - Takes an unflinching look at the 1992 L.A. uprising tracing its roots back a decade, unfolding its history as a series of very personal decisions and very public failures. The film weaves heartbreaking first-hand accounts from black, white, Asian, and Hispanic Angelenos of all classes, caught up in a cascade of rising tension culminating in an explosion of anger and fear after the Rodney King verdict. The Crown: Season 2 (Netflix, December 8) - Tells the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world -- Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street - and the intrigues, love lives and machinations behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. Two houses, two courts, one Crown. In season two, as Queen Elizabeth's marriage and empire crumbles around her, she must do what is required to ensure the British monarchy survives.
Tales of Arcadia Trilogy (Netflix, December 15) - On the surface, Arcadia appears to be a slice of timeless Americana, but it is no ordinary town. It lies at the center of magical and mystical lines that will make it a nexus for many battles among otherworldly creatures including trolls, aliens and wizards. From visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, the world of DreamWorks Trollhunters is set to expand into a trilogy of series called Tales of Arcadia. Trolls were just the beginning.
Ultimate Beastmaster: Season 2 (Netflix, December 15) - An international competition series featuring 108 competitors from six countries: Spain, France, Italy, China, India and the U.S. Each episode will feature 12 competitors, two from each country, taking their shot at running one of the most physically demanding obstacle courses ever devised: “The Beast.” Nine individual winners from each episode will compete in the end against each other for the chance to become the "Ultimate Beastmaster."
Dark (Netflix, December 1) - A family saga with a supernatural twist, is set in a German town in present day where the disappearance of two young children exposes the double lives and fractured relationships among four families. In ten, hour-long episodes, the story takes on a supernatural twist that ties back to the same town in 1986.
The Benefits of Gusbandry: Season 2 (Amazon Prime Video, Now Streaming) - In a new, politically charged 3-episode arc, the world of The Benefits of Gusba
Shut Eye: Season 2 (Hulu, December 6) - Takes a darkly comedic look at the world of Los Angeles storefront psychics and the organized crime syndicate that runs them. Former magician Charlie Haverford (Jeffrey Donovan) oversees a number of fortune telling parlors on behalf of his violent and domineering Romani kingpin boss, until a blow to the head jars him into a new mindset, making him question everything he has ever believed.
Meanwhile, Sony has announced the Digital Download release of Seinfeld, allowing customers to purchase all 180 episodes from the show's nine seasons with options to buy individual episodes, full seasons or the entire series from various digital retailers like Amazon and VUDU.
Finally, AT&T is offering an early look at The Ballad of Lefty Brown exclusively for DirecTV users before the film hits theaters. The movie is now available as a 72-hour rental through the DirecTV Cinema pay-per-view service in 1080p HD ($11) or SD ($10) ahead of its upcoming December 15 theatrical premiere.
Here's a synopsis per AT&T: When cowboy Lefty Brown (Bill Pullman) witnesses the murder of his longtime partner — the newly-elected Senator Edward Johnson (Peter Fonda) — he strikes out to find the killers and avenge his friend's gruesome death. Tracking the outlaws across the vast and desolate Montana plains, Lefty recruits a young gunslinger, Jeremiah (Diego Josef), and an old friend, a hard-drinking U.S. Marshall (Tommy Flanagan), to help deliver the men to justice. After a gunfight with the outlaws leaves Jeremiah wounded, Lefty returns home with the names of Johnson's killers only to find that he is being accused of his friend's murder. With the tables turned, and with his friend in the governor's mansion (Jim Caviezel) refusing to help, Lefty must evade the law and prove his innocence by exposing the powerful men ultimately responsible for Johnson's death.
