'Dr. Strangelove' Re-Announced for Blu-ray

After several months delay, Sony Pictures has re-set 'Dr. Strangelove' for a mid-June Blu-ray launch.

Widely considered one of Stanley Kubrick's finest efforts, 'Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb' was initially scheduled to make its much-anticipated bow on Blu-ray December 9, before Sony quietly yanked the title from its high-def line-up.

The studio has now confirmed a new date of June 16th and offered a detailed list of updated specs for the Peter Sellers comedy classic.

The Blu-ray will be presented on a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.66:1) and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio.

Extras include a spate of six making-of featurettes ("An Interview with Robert McNamara," "Best Sellers: Peter Sellers Remembered," "Inside the Making of Dr. Strangelove," "Inside: Dr. Strangelove," "No Fighting in the War Room or: Dr. Strangelove and the Nuclear Threat," "The Art of Stanley Kubrick: From Short Films to Strangelove").

Exclusive to the Blu-ray is "The Cold Facts" picture-and-graphic-in-picture track (Bonus View).

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $28.95.
