Yes, there will be an 'Uncharted' game ready for when the Vita is released.
Great games are absolutely essential for a strong console launch, and Sony knows that better than anyone. The PlayStation 3 took some time to get off of the ground, and the then unknown console exclusive 'Resistance' wasn't doing much to sway people over. They're doing things differently for the Vita and are putting one huge title right up front.
As usual Japan is getting a glut of titles that we won't be seeing for a while, if ever, but the U.S. launch lineup is looking pretty good. First up is the game 'Little Deviants.' It's not exactly a hardcore title, but rather designed to show off all of the capabilities of the Vita, including the rear touchpad, six-axis controls and augmented reality.
We'll be getting a 'Ridge Racer' title, which probably won't come as much of a surprise, and a game called 'Shinobido 2: Tales of the Ninja,' which is a sequel to a game on the PSP. You'll also be able to pick up 'Touch My Katamari' at launch, which should provide the kind of quick-hit fun the series is known for.
And of course, the biggest title for the Vita's February 22nd launch will be 'Uncharted: Golden Abyss,' which lets you try out a few different play styles and gives you the 'Uncharted' experience you know and love.
All of these launch titles are currently priced at $39 on Amazon. Japanese games are currently cheaper to download than to purchase in stores, so we'll see what happens with that as we get closer to launch. Based on how important the retail space is here in the U.S. we're betting there won't be a difference.
