The company's latest 4K HDR projector has been detailed.
Sony has announced its newest home theater projector. The VPL-VW675ES is a native 4K projector with high dynamic range support.
"Sony is the leader in full native 4K resolution projectors for the home theater market," said André Floyd, Product Manager for projectors at Sony Electronics Inc. "The successor to the award-winning VPL-VW665ES introduced just last year at CEDIA, , the VPL-VW675ES demonstrates our continuing commitment to provide cutting-edge home cinema technology to our customers and the custom install channel."
The projector uses native 4K SXRD panels and Sony's proprietary TRILUMINOS engine for color accuracy. Likewise, the device is capable of 1,800 lumens brightness and a dynamic contrast ratio of 350,000:1. In addition, the projector supports HDR10 content from streaming services and Ultra HD Blu-ray players, along with upcoming support (via firmware update) for the new Hybrid Log-Gamma (HyLG) format for HDR broadcasting services and user generated content. A built-in RF 3D transmitter, professional calibration features, and HDCP 2.2 compliant HDMI connections are included as well. Finally, the projector uses a compact size powered 2.06 zoom and wide-angle lens for flexible and easy installation.
Sony's VPL-VW675ES 4K HDR home theater projector will be available in November for an MSRP of $15,000. The projector is currently on display at CEDIA 2016 in Dallas, Texas.
The VPL-VW675ES will serve as the successor to the previously released VPL-VW665ES. The VPL-VW665ES is a native 4K projector with Sony’s proprietary TRILUMINOS engine, Motionflow picture technology, and a built-in RF 3D transmitter. HDMI connectivity with HDCP 2.2 compliancy and a long-lasting lamp for up to 6,000 hours of performance are featured as well. In addition, the VPL-VW665ES offers HDR (high dynamic range) support and features a 300,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
